MOSCOW: Russia has successfully tested a new long-range nuclear cruise missile, the Boreyvestik.
Russian Army Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the test was conducted on October 21.
He said that this new nuclear cruise missile covered a distance of 14,000 kilometers and remained in the air for about 15 hours.
He said that this missile can defeat any anti-missile defense program and hit its target.
The Russian President was briefed on this during a visit to the command center of the Russian Joint Group of Forces.
The Russian President said that this is a unique weapon and that no country in the world has it yet.
He said that the tests of the main nuclear cruise missile have been completed, and now work should begin on the final stage before the missiles are deployed.
The Boreyvestik missile is part of Russia’s advanced weapons program called SSC X-9 Skyfall.
