MAKKAH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the ‘King Salman Gate’ project, which aims to bring about a qualitative change in the development of the infrastructure of Makkah and the central region.
According to Arab media, the project covers an area of 12 million square meters near the Grand Mosque.
According to Saudi media, the project will provide residential, cultural, and other facilities, and the project has space for 900,000 worshipers in indoor and outdoor prayer halls and courtyards.
The project will be connected to the public transportation system to make it easier for pilgrims to access the Grand Mosque.
According to Arab media, the project will contribute to the goals of economic diversification under Saudi Vision 2030 and will create more than 300,000 job opportunities by 2036.
In another development, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has released a new update for its premium residence scheme for October 2025, which includes details of fees, benefits, and a new application procedure.
According to the details, the program provides foreign nationals with the freedom to reside, do business, and work in Saudi Arabia without a sponsor. According to the report, the Saudi government is currently offering two types of premium residence.
The first is a one-time payment of 800,000 Saudi riyals (approximately 213,000 US dollars) for permanent residence, which will provide lifelong residence. The second is a fee of 100,000 riyals (approximately 26,700 US dollars) per year for a renewable residence.
