Shooting near Bondi Beach leaves 10 dead in Sydney

SYDENY: At least ten people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.

According to New South Wales Police, two people have been detained, while a security operation is still underway in the area, and citizens have been instructed to stay away from Bondi Beach.

Police said in a statement on the social media platform X that the situation is not completely under control, so the public should be careful.

According to local media reports, several people were injured as a result of the shooting, while television channels broadcast scenes in which people fell to the ground and rescue operations were underway.

Eyewitness to the incident, 30-year-old Harry Wilson, told a local newspaper that he saw at least 10 people lying on the ground and blood splattered everywhere.

Videos circulating on social media show people running after gunshots at Bondi Beach, while police sirens can be heard.

Another video shows two people being held to the ground by police on a footbridge, one of whom was being treated for a gunshot wound.

A spokesman for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government was aware of the security situation at Bondi Beach and urged the public to follow police instructions.
