BIHAR: Police in India have seized Rs 1.5 crore, gold, silver and a luxury car from a tea seller’s house.

According to an Indian media report, the Bihar state police have seized a large amount of cash and jewellery worth over Rs 1.05 crore from the residence of a tea seller in Gopalganj.

The police have arrested two brothers involved in a cybercrime network during the operation.

The police raided a house in Amethi Khurd village. During the search, they recovered Rs 1.5 crore in cash, 344 grams of gold, 1.75 kg of silver, and several items related to online fraud.

Cyber DSP Avantika Dilip Kumar revealed that the seized items include 85 ATM cards, 75 bank passbooks, 28 cheque books, Aadhaar cards, two laptops, three mobile phones, and a luxury car.

The police reported that the main accused, identified as Abhishek Kumar, used to run a small tea stall before he was allegedly involved in the cybercrime racket and later moved to Dubai, from where he was running the online fraud network while his brother Aditya Kumar oversaw the transactions and logistics in India.

“Initial investigation suggests that the gang transferred the fraudulently obtained money to various bank accounts and later converted it into cash,” DSP Avantika Dilip Kumar was quoted as saying by India Today.

Police suspect that the network is spread beyond Bihar, possibly having links to other states. Several other people associated with the gang are being traced.
