The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) on Wednesday said it has streamlined the process for the issuance of passports for Emiratis, as well as Emirates ID and residency permits for expatriates.
Previously, these services required four steps, but now they have been streamlined to a single step, making the process more efficient and convenient for customers.
The move is part of the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy program.
Several fields from the service requests have been removed to streamline the application process. Four of the 10 fields have been removed for passport services, while six fields have been removed for ID card and residency permit services. Now that the customer’s most recent registered address is visible, the other fields are automatically completed using the “request data once” approach.
Additionally, fewer attachments are now needed for these services than in the past. The passport attachment, the summary of registration for citizens, and the personal photo are the three primary attachments that are no longer required for ID cards and residence permit services. A personal photo is also no longer required for passport services.
The customer can now choose to modify the photo when data and images are retrieved from the systems. Furthermore, an electronic circular has taken the place of the passport loss circular document, and residents’ health insurance documents are obtained through institutional linkage.
Additionally, ICP has streamlined the payment process by introducing smart payment channels like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Customers will ultimately save time as a result of the decreased fields and processes involved in entering payment info.
