WASHINGTON: After the Israeli airstrikes, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued an important statement, saying that the United States is not involved in Israeli attacks on Iran and its top priority is the protection of US forces in the region.
“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran, the United States is not involved in these attacks. Our top priority is the protection of US forces deployed in the Middle East”,he said.
He added that Israel had informed us that it considers this action necessary to protect its security. President Donald Trump and his administration have taken all necessary steps to protect US forces and we are in constant contact with our regional allies.
The Secretary of State issued a strong warning to Iran, saying that I want to make it clear that Iran should not target US interests or personnel.
At this time, US President Donald Trump’s response is being awaited. According to US media, President Trump has called an emergency cabinet meeting.
