PUNE: Former Indian army chief General Manoj Naravane has criticized Indians for questioning the truce between Pakistan and India, stating that war is neither romantic nor like a Bollywood movie, according to the Press Trust of India.

At an event in Pune on Sunday, he stated, “War is not romantic. This is not your typical Bollywood movie. This is serious business. War or violence should be the last thing we should resort to, which is why our prime minister said this is not an era of war … War should not be something to cheer for”.

“It finally culminated in an announcement regarding the cessation of military action. I would like to repeat that it is only a cessation of military operations, not a ceasefire as such. Watch how things unfold in the days and weeks to come,” he added.

“If you consider the facts and figures, particularly the cost of war, you’ll realise that a wise person makes that call before the losses become too large or insurmountable,” Naravane said.

Earlier, the communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India on Monday has been postponed, with no official reason provided, according to the Indian news channel Zee News.

The contact was scheduled at noon, 1200pm Pakistan standard time, but it is now expected to take place later this evening.

According to Indian Media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired a high-level meeting with their military leadership before the contact between the DGMOs.

The talks between both the DGMOs will be about the ceasefire understanding between the two countries, after US President Donald Trump announced the end of border tension.
