LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the provision of new electric buses in 10 districts of Punjab. Under the project, modern travel facilities will be provided to the citizens.
In a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a detailed review was taken of the progress on the free transport program, electric buses, e-tax scheme and mass transit projects. The briefing was informed that more than 1.25 lakh passengers have benefited on 21 routes under the free transport program, while thousands of bus trips have been completed.
The meeting approved the provision of new electric buses in Attock, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin and Okara. Under this project, 100 buses will reach Punjab this month, 350 by mid-May and another 264 buses by the end of June. Along with this, special depots will also be established for these buses in each division.
Important progress was made in promoting a modern environment-friendly transport system in Punjab, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the provision of new electric buses in 10 districts of the province.
According to officials, these steps are being taken to provide modern, comfortable and environment-friendly travel facilities to the citizens, which will not only reduce traffic problems but also help in controlling environmental pollution.
