ISLAMABAD: Over 100,000 new jobs are expected to be created in Pakistan as Japanese automakers expand their investments, adopting cutting-edge technology, local auto parts, and modern manufacturing practices such as Kaizen and 5S.

Japan is ramping up its automotive investment, a development that is expected to create over 100,000 new jobs while boosting the country’s vehicle assembly and auto parts ecosystem. The announcement was made during the Japan-Pakistan Business Seminar 2026 in Islamabad, which highlights a new era of cooperation and industrial development.

Pakistan’s auto industry has long benefited from Japanese expertise, and this latest move is set to accelerate local car manufacturing, localization of auto parts, and vendor development, signaling a stronger momentum than ever before.

The employment opportunities under the mega plan are linked to Japan’s growing footprint in Pakistan. Up to 60% localization of auto parts, a major boost for domestic suppliers and manufacturers.

Both sides are working to adopt modern manufacturing standards, including Kaizen and 5S workplace systems that are aligned with global automotive trends, with a focus on green and hybrid vehicle technologies.

For local vendors and assemblers, increased localization is expected to increase demand for Pakistani-made auto parts, enhance quality standards, and strengthen the supply chain. Consumers can benefit from more consistent products and a wider range of hybrid vehicles as global car models evolve.
