KARACHI: The Sindh government has taken an important decision to make third-party insurance mandatory for vehicles across the province. Under this new law, insurance will now be mandatory for registering any vehicle and submitting token tax.

This decision has been taken on the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The provincial government says that the aim of this measure is to make travel on the roads safer and provide financial protection to the victims of accidents.

Under the new law, financial assistance will be provided to the families of those killed in traffic accidents. According to the government, if a person dies in an accident, his heirs will be given a compensation of Rs. 7 lakh. Similarly, if a person is permanently disabled in an accident, he will be given Rs. 5 lakh.

The Sindh government has also introduced a no-fault compensation system for this purpose. Under this system, immediate financial assistance will be provided to the affected people without legal complications.

Pakistan’s first modern digital insurance monitoring system has also been activated in Sindh. This system will help prevent fake insurance policies and enable online checking of all vehicle records.

The Sindh Chief Minister has said that after the amendment in the Sindh Motor Vehicle Ordinance, a new clause has been added to provide immediate financial assistance to the victims of traffic accidents. In this regard, the Excise Department has been directed to ensure strict implementation of the new law.
