Provincial govt approves major health insurance, merit-based hiring decisions

Balochistan govt declares CNIC as health card

QUETTA: The provincial cabinet meeting, chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, approved important decisions related to the electric bike scheme, health insurance for government employees, and appointments on merit.

The provincial cabinet also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the launch of communication and education projects in Balochistan.

In the provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, it was decided that the electric bike scheme will be introduced for the common man.

Under which a 30 percent subsidy will be provided to students, working women, and government employees, while electric bikes will also be provided to ordinary citizens on easy installments under bank financing.

It was revealed in the meeting that about 6 to 7 billion rupees are spent annually on the treatment of about 250,000 government employees of the province, in view of which the cabinet decided to introduce a comprehensive health insurance scheme for government employees.

The cabinet also approved the audit of advance medical payments and the Public Endowment Fund.

The provincial cabinet approved the extension of the Enterprises Development Program to Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran, while reaffirming the commitment to appointments on merit to promote meritocracy.
