120,000 poor families in KP to get solar systems

PESHAWAR: The provision of solar systems for 120,000 poor and low-income families has been approved, which will help overcome the electricity crisis.

According to details, in an important meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, projects worth billions of rupees have been approved to bring ease to the lives of poor families in the merged districts.

The cabinet approved several development projects under the ‘Revitalization Plan’ to develop Peshawar on modern lines.

These include improving roads, constructing new underpasses and modernizing the traffic management system, installing new traffic signals in the city and constructing commemorative monuments.

In a historic move, the provincial cabinet has approved the provision of solar systems for 120,000 poor families in the merged districts, which will help overcome the electricity crisis in these areas.

To save the people from inflation, the cabinet issued important financial grants, a grant of Rs 168.7 million was approved for the Ramadan relief package and Dastarkhwan, while the number of families benefiting from the relief package has been increased to more than 1 million 57 thousand.

Rs 41.7 million has been allocated for the purchase of winter clothes for children of special educational institutions.

The cabinet also approved a supplementary grant of Rs 400 million for the payment of outstanding dues, Rs 41 million for the arrears of social media platforms and amendments to the Debt Management Fund Rules.

In addition, the matter of appointment of the CEO of KP Economic Zones Company was also settled.
