KARACHI: Amid rising electricity prices and in a bid to achieve clean energy, the Sindh government has announced a relief offer, offering free solar systems to household consumers consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month.
The initiative, led by the Sindh Energy Department, aims to help low-income households struggling with high utility bills. Eligible households can apply for free solar panels under the scheme until August 20, 2025.
According to official sources, the department has already received more than 123,000 applications from across the province. In light of the overwhelming response, the government indicated that if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of the scheme, the beneficiaries will be selected through a transparent lottery system.
A spokesperson for the Energy Department said that the program is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to reduce dependence on the national grid, reduce energy costs and encourage the use of renewable energy.
Residents who meet the usage criteria are requested to apply before the deadline to take advantage of this opportunity.
