AJK govt waives electricity arrears for Mangla victims

ISLAMABAD: The Azad Kashmir government has approved the waiver of electricity arrears of 2376 households affected by the expansion of Mangla Dam.

This decision was taken in light of the agreement reached between the government and the Joint Public Action Committee.

According to an official notification, the electricity arrears of about 140 million rupees of the affected families have been completely waived, which has been approved by the President of Azad Kashmir.

This decision is being termed as a major relief for the Mangla Dam victims. According to officials, this step is a significant step towards reducing the financial difficulties faced by the victims and fulfilling the promises made to them.

On the other hand, the leaders of the Action Committee have also appreciated this government decision and have also demanded the early approval of other demands under the agreement.
