KARACHI: The citizens of Karachi, affected by inflation, are like putting another burden as the prices of chicken meat and eggs per dozen are likely to increase in the next few days, here on Thursday.

As per the media reports, the price of chicken meat is likely to increase by Rs100 to Rs150 per kg, while the price of eggs is likely to increase by Rs50 to Rs70 per dozen.

It should be noted that chicken meat is being sold at Rs480 per kg while eggs are being sold at Rs 240 per dozen in Karachi.

Last month, the Senate Standing Committee on Finance supported the decision to end the tax exemption on chicken feed.

In the standing committee meeting, FBR officials said that 10% tax exemption on chicken feed is being removed.

Officials said that 10 percent sales tax will be imposed on cattle feed, including cows and buffaloes, which will generate 47 billion rupees in sales tax.
