ISLAMABAD: The official rate of broiler chicken meat has been lowered by Rs. 14 per kg to Rs. 432 per kg from the earlier rate of Rs. 446.
Even though the official reduction has taken place, overcharging continues to be reported in local markets as chicken is being sold at the rate of Rs. 450 per kg. The government has fixed the wholesale price at Rs. 284 per kg and the official retail price at Rs. 298 per kg.
There have been complaints about vendors selling live chicken for up to Rs. 295 per kg in the market, disregarding the wholesale and retail prices fixed by the government.
