PESHAWAR: The upcoming Eid celebration has caused essential food prices to increase, resulting in higher costs for Peshawar consumers.

Market sources report that chicken prices have experienced a major increase during the last week because the cost now stands at Rs. 45 per kilogram.

In the poultry market, the price of live chicken has reached around Rs 405 per kg. The market has experienced price increases for both poultry products and vegetables because multiple vegetable items now sell at Rs20 to Rs30 per kilogram above their former prices.

Local markets have seen fruit prices increase through upward price movements that reach Rs50 per kilogram for certain fruit types.

Traders explain the price increase at Eid because of higher demand requirements, while consumers show worry about rising essential food prices during the holiday period.
