LAHORE: In recent weeks, chicken meat prices have increased in parts of Lahore and Punjab, despite a drop in inflation.
Over the weekend, the price of chicken meat in Lahore, Rawalpindi and other cities of Punjab increased several notches to Rs 585-595 per kg.
Last week the price of chicken was Rs 550 per kg. Now the official rates are listed at Rs 584 per kg, but many poultry shops are selling meat at around Rs 600 per kg.
Citizens are expressing dissatisfaction over the rising prices of chicken despite the reduction in prices of other basic commodities and the price of chicken is expected to decrease.
Chicken is generally cheap, and its price varies based on a number of factors including supply and demand. The prices of chicken are monitored by the Lahore district government.
