ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) that the services of social media platform X, formerly Twitter, have not been restored in the country.

PTA Director Law Ali Akbar told the Sindh High Court that his lawyer’s statement regarding withdrawal of the notification on September 12 was based on a misunderstanding.

Ali Akbar further said that another case is pending in the same bench in which the notification regarding the formation of the steering committee has been withdrawn.

The SHC was requested to withdraw or modify its earlier written order.

Earlier on Friday, PTA lawyer Ahsan Imam informed the court that the authority has withdrawn its notification regarding the suspension of X Services (formerly Twitter) in Pakistan.

The PTA lawyer submitted the reply after the SHC sought the authority’s stand on the ban on X in Pakistan. Sindh High Court adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks after the response of PTA’s counsel.
