ISLAMABAD: Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad has approved revised property tax for all parts of Islamabad, including Bahria Town and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
In a notification issued by Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad said “In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section-5, Section 88, Chapter-X of ICT Local Government Act, 2015, the Revision of “Property Tax” in Islamabad Capital Territory has been approved.”
In the past, the Capital Development Authority (CDA),exclusively collected property taxes from owners of businesses and residences situated inside specific sectors. In an attempt to increase tax income, it has now declared a flat tax rate for the first time.
In a recent development, homes in Bahria Town, Bahria Enclave, and DHA are subject to property taxes levied by the CDA.
The annual value of buildings and lands for the purpose of this levy shall be determined on fixed rates in Residential Properties and admixture of plot area and the covered area in Commercial Properties thereon multiplied by the respective figures shown in this document.
Five Marla house will cost Rs27,000 in the wake of property tax whereas, CDA will collect Rs298,000 for property tax of six-kanal houses.

Houses in Sector E-11, model towns, and PHA Kurri Housing plan that have a 140-yard area would be subject to an annual levy of Rs 24,000 from the civic council. Homes built on 4,000-yard plots would be subject to a 200,000- rupee levy.
For a building of 140 yards in Park Enclave, the tax payable to the authority would be Rs25,000; for a house built on a site measuring 2000 yards, it would be Rs227,000.
The lowest and maximum amounts of property taxes that apply to houses in Gulberg are Rs 20,000 and Rs 170,000, respectively. The taxes for the various sectors are as follows:
