Eid ul Adha 2024: SBP announces bank holidays

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced banks holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2024, here on Wednesday.

As per the details, Allied Offices, Public and Private Sector Banks/Financial Institutions will be closed from 17 June to 19 June 2024 (Monday to Wednesday) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha as a public holiday.

Thus, there will be five bank holidays as June 15 to June 16 (Saturday and Sunday) are weekly holidays. Banks will resume operations on June 20, 2024 (Thursday) after two weeks of Eid-ul-Adha holidays and three holidays.

People in Pakistan will enjoy a long Eid-ul-Adha holiday despite the announcement of only three holidays this year.

A summary has emerged online, revealing three days of Eid al-Adha holidays from June 17 to 19, as the nation of more than 240 million prepares for the festival.

The holiday has been announced after the sighting of the Zil-Hajj moon on June 7, as Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated in Pakistan on June 17. Eid al-Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hajj, coincides with the rites of Hajj.
