LAHORE: The government has decided to bring a scheme to eliminate environmental pollution that will make electric bikes available to every citizen.
Taking an important step to reduce environmental pollution, the government has prepared a plan to rent electric bikes for citizens in Lahore. Under this scheme, citizens will now be able to easily use environmentally friendly transport and save on expensive petrol.
Electric vehicles will not only reduce fuel costs but will also make the city’s environment safer by reducing air pollution.
In the initial phase of the project, the Punjab government will provide 10,000 electric bikes on rent, while 300 docking and charging stations will be established across the city.
The Punjab Housing Authority will provide land for these stations so that better connectivity can be ensured between residential and commercial areas as well as public transport points.
According to the relevant authorities, the implementation of this project is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions in Lahore, which will reduce thousands of tons of carbon production annually and help control the level of air pollution and smog in the city.
This service will provide an affordable and modern mobility solution for students, employees and ordinary citizens, citizens will be able to access the bikes through a mobile application.
However, the government has not yet given any details regarding the rental charges, it is also not clear whether the bikes will be available on an hourly or daily basis.
According to the authorities, the aim of this scheme is to make electric vehicles available to every citizen and promote the use of environmentally friendly transport.
