ISLAMABAD: The Board-in-Council meeting, chaired by the Chairman FBR at the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad, has approved an increase in the reward limit for Inland Revenue officers.

According to the decision, the maximum reward limit for hardworking and excellent-performing officers has been increased from 18 salaries to 24 salaries per annum.

In this regard, important amendments have been made in the Inland Revenue Reward Rules 2021, under which not only a new limit has been set but a new review system has also been introduced for non-cadre officers and staff.

It was informed in the meeting that ex-cadre officers of BS 16 and above and staff of BS 1 to 15 will be divided into different categories based on performance, while a review system will be devised for their quarterly rewards through joint reporting of senior members.

Some members suggested a review of the constitution of the Assessment Committee; however, the majority, including the Chairman, supported the current system.

It was decided that the entire system would be IT-based, and PRAL was directed to activate the digital framework within 7 days.

The meeting further informed that the Customs Reward Rules 2012 already allow rewards up to 36 months of basic pay, hence no amendment is required.

The Board did not support the proposal to remove cadre officers from the reward structure, however, the special reward system for their exceptional performance will be further considered in the next meeting.
