ISLAMABAD: The government has announced that the federal government employees will receive their salaries before Eid ul Fitr.

The decision was made according to media reports because Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif wanted to help employees who needed to take their Eid holidays.

The directive requires that salaries be paid out before the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. Federal government departments have received instructions to take necessary actions that will enable them to pay salaries on time before Eid.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that it will proceed with the payment of salaries and pensions for government staff and pensioners before Eid ul-Fitr 2026.

The provincial Finance Department issued an official notification which stated that all salaries and pensions will be paid out on March 16 for March instead of the standard April 1 payment date.

The initiative helps employees and pensioners because it provides them with financial support to prepare for their upcoming Eid festivities. The Punjab government implemented identical measures to assist its public sector workers before the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The Punjab Finance Department issued a notification which confirmed that all Muslim government workers in the province would receive their March salaries on March 16, 2026.

The notification specified that all pensions will be distributed on the same date so retired government employees can access their financial benefits without delay.

Pakistan Railways will operate four special trains for passengers during the Eid ul Fitr 2026 holiday because Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi ordered this service. The first Eid special train will depart from Lahore to Karachi on March 16, according to a notification that was released on Sunday.
