ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): The federal government has approved the release of development funds for the first and second quarters of the current fiscal year 2025-26, amounting to Rs 330.43 billion.

According to sources, the Ministry of Planning and Development has issued a “one-liner authorization” for the entire amount, which has been dispatched to all ministries and divisions for utilization under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Officials stated that the approved funds represent approximately 35% of the total federal development budget of Rs 1,000 billion for the current fiscal year.

This approval also includes 15% of the development funds for the first quarter (July to September 2025), the release of which had already been approved.

According to the details, the finance ministry has already formulated an official budget release strategy, whereby 15% of the funds are released in the first quarter, 20% in the second, 25% in the third, and the remaining 40% in the final quarter of the fiscal year.

Sources further added that to ensure transparency and financial discipline, the development funds will be pre-audited before being issued and will not be released directly through the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
