Punjab govt okays MoU for Lahore-Rawalpindi high-speed rail project

LAHORE: Major progress has been made on the Lahore-Rawalpindi High Speed ​​Railway project.

The Punjab government has approved an MoU for the high-speed train project, the MoU will be signed between the Ministry of Railways and the Punjab government.

The project is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Vision T-30, the upgradation of Lahore to Rawalpindi Railway Main Line One is included in the project.

Upgradation of branch and tertiary railway lines is also part of the MoU, the project will make the regional railway network modern and fast, both the institutions will work together on land acquisition, data sharing and feasibility study.

The project will be implemented and monitored by Pakistan Railways, it has been decided to form a joint committee for the project, PC-II for the feasibility study has been submitted to the P&D Board.

On the other hand, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In the meeting, matters related to Pakistan Railways were discussed, and the overall political situation of the country was also discussed.

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi paid tribute to the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s role in the Gaza peace agreement.
