FESCO Issues important alert for 200-Unit protected consumers

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has issued important instructions to protected consumers consuming up to 200 units of electricity, warning them to complete the verification process quickly through the QR code on their electricity bill, otherwise they may face deprivation of government subsidy.

According to FESCO, the registration and verification process of consumers has been accelerated on the instructions of the Ministry of Energy and the orders of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Amir. The aim of this move is to continuously provide cross-subsidy facilities to deserving consumers and make the subsidy system more transparent, secure and digital.

According to FESCO spokesperson Muhammad Saeed Raza, the number of protected consumers eligible for government subsidy in the FESCO region is 39,51,336, out of which 17,13,110 consumers have successfully completed the verification process through the QR code.

According to the spokesperson, 2.238 million 126 consumers have still not completed their verification, which is likely to affect their subsidy in the future.

While explaining the procedure to consumers, FESCO has asked them to scan the QR code on their latest electricity bill with their mobile phone, enter their national identity card number and registered mobile number, while completing the verification process through the one-time password (OTP) received.

FESCO management says that the purpose of the digital verification system is to prevent misuse of subsidies and to reach the genuine beneficiaries of government relief.

The company has warned consumers to use only the QR code on their original electricity bill and never enter their personal information on any fake website, suspicious link or unverified source.
