LAHORE: Flour prices have once again seen a significant increase in the country, due to which the people have faced severe difficulties.
Flour at the official rate has become scarce in the open market, while the prices of bags of different weights are increasing rapidly.
According to market sources, a 10 kg bag of flour is now being sold for Rs 1050, while the price of 20 kg flour has increased to Rs 2100.
Earlier, the official rate of 10 kg flour was fixed at Rs 910 and the price of 20 kg bag was fixed at Rs 1810, however, in the current situation, the implementation of the official rates is not visible.
The Flour Mills Association says that the government has stopped the supply of government wheat, due to which there is a shortage of flour in the market and prices have increased. According to experts, the imbalance in supply and demand is also a major reason for the increase in prices.
Citizens say that in this era of inflation, the increase in the prices of basic necessities like flour is causing them great distress.
