LAHORE: A significant increase has been recorded once again in the prices of farm chicken and eggs.

The increase in the cost of these daily food items has further affected the household budget and citizens have demanded immediate relief from the government.

According to the details, the price of broiler meat in the open market of Lahore has increased from Rs 417 to Rs 500 per kg.

Similarly, the price of farm eggs has also increased, a dozen eggs are being sold for Rs 239 to 245.

Citizens say that the prices of broiler meat have been continuously increasing for the past several months, due to which it is becoming difficult for the middle and low-income class to purchase meat.

They say that chicken and eggs were considered cheap food for the common man, but now they have also come under the grip of inflation.

According to market sources, the gap between supply and demand, increase in production costs and other factors are being cited as the reasons for the price hike, however, citizens are of the opinion that the relevant institutions seem to be failing to control prices.

Citizens have demanded from the government and the district administration to take effective steps to stabilize the prices of broiler meat and eggs so that the common man can get relief and essential food items remain available at reasonable rates.
