ISLAMABAD: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply to industrial consumers.
According to the company, this decision has been taken due to shortage in the gas system. The aim of this measure is to distribute the available gas fairly among all sectors.
The announcement states that the gas shutdown will start from Sunday morning. This will continue till 8 am on Monday, April 13. During this time, gas supply to the industrial sector will be completely shut down for 24 hours.
According to Sui Southern Gas Company, the country is facing a shortage in the overall gas supply. Due to this, gas is being supplied to domestic and other important sectors on priority basis. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the situation so that the system can be run in a better manner.
On the other hand, industrial circles have expressed concern over this decision, saying that the production process is affected by repeated gas shutdowns. This not only halts the work of factories but also threatens to affect export orders.
