Government announces reduction in electricity prices across the country for 3 months

ISLAMABAD: The government has issued a notification to reduce electricity prices by 1 rupee 99 paise per unit across the country, under which consumers will get relief worth billions of rupees.

According to the notification, the reduction in electricity prices has been made in the form of quarterly adjustment from January to March 2026, which will be implemented for three months from June to August 2026.

According to officials, the benefit of the reduction in electricity prices will be received by consumers across the country, while consumers in Karachi will also benefit from this relief, as it will also be applicable to electric consumers of the reduction.

According to official documents, as a result of the reduction in electricity rates, consumers will get a total financial relief of 67 billion 173 million rupees.

Energy sector experts say that this reduction in electricity bills can be helpful in reducing the financial burden for domestic and commercial consumers, especially at a time when the effects of inflation are noticeable on public life.

It should be noted that electricity tariffs are reviewed periodically under quarterly adjustments to adjust prices according to production costs and other financial factors.
