BAHRAIN: The Bahraini government has announced upcoming changes in the prices of petroleum products for companies, factories and vehicles.
According to an official statement, these decisions were made after a review of previous measures taken in 2015 and an analysis of the local and global market situation, in order to bring energy prices closer to actual consumption and costs.
The statement stated that the price of natural gas for companies and factories will be increased in stages, which will be implemented from January 2026. Under the new policy, it will be increased by 50 cents every year for the next four years.
According to the government, the aim of this measure is to reduce the difference between local and global prices, encourage efficient use of energy and attract industrial enterprises to invest in renewable energy.
On the other hand, the government has also announced the establishment of a new committee consisting of government agencies and companies to determine the prices of vehicle fuel, which will determine fuel prices on a monthly basis.
The move is aimed at reflecting price fluctuations in the global market, while maintaining economic efficiency and financial sustainability.
The new system will set prices for Super (98 octane), Premium (95 octane), Regular (91 octane) and Diesel. The government has made it clear that the subsidy on diesel for Bahraini fishermen will continue. The new prices are expected to be officially announced soon after a meeting of the Fuel Prices Committee.
