ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a significant subsidy of Rs20 per kilogram on sugar prices across the country during the holy month of Ramazan 2025.
Therefore, sugar at a fixed price of Rs130 will be available in all four provinces. The Ministry of Industry and Production has issued minutes of meetings to the chief secretaries of all provinces, and correspondence has been sent to the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association to keep the sugar price at Rs130/kg during Ramazan.
Consumers can obtain this subsidized rate of sugar from model bazaars that will be set up during Ramazan. The sale of subsidized sugar will start three days before Ramazan and continue until the 27th of the month.
The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association shall ensure a sufficient supply of sugar in the Ramazan bazaars across the country.
In another development, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on February 28 to see the Ramazan moon, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that the new moon will be born at 05:45 PKT on February 28.
Regarding the Met Office, there seems to be no reason why the new moon would be sighted on the night of February 28. This will mean that the holy month of fasting will begin on March 2.
The commencement of Ramzan 2025 will be on Sunday, March 2. Ramzan is a holy month of the Islamic calendar, celebrated by Muslims throughout the world with religious enthusiasm and spirit, also referred to as “the month of fasting”.
