Govt likely to increase petroleum prices for next 15 days

ISLAMABAD: The government is expected to raise fuel prices, which could reach Rs9.60 per litre over the next fortnight.

According to sources, an initial summary has been prepared in accordance with global market trends.

Sources said that petrol may become cheaper by Rs1.96 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel will increase by Rs9.60 per litre.

Kerosene is likely to go up by Rs8.82 per litre and light diesel oil by Rs7.15 per litre.

The OGRA would send its working paper to the Petroleum Division on November 15.

After receiving the working paper, the Petroleum Division in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, would prepare a joint summary for submission to the Prime Minister.

After the prime minister’s approval, the Ministry of Finance will publish the revised prices, effective for the next 15 days.

On November 1, the price of kerosene oil went up in Pakistan after a recent hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification confirming the price revision.

The kerosene oil’s price was raised by Rs3.34 per litre to Rs185.05 per liter as per the notification, against the previous rate of Rs181.71 per liter.

The price of light diesel oil was raised by Rs 1.22 per litre and its new rate reached Rs 163.98 per litre as compared to the previous Rs 162.76.
