Islamabad revises market timings: Shops to close at 8 PM under new notification

ISLAMABAD: A new notification has been issued changing the working hours of shops, businesses and markets, what time will they close now?

According to the details, the district administration in Islamabad has issued a new notification reviewing the business hours under austerity measures (austerity mayors).

The notification said that all shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8 pm throughout the week, however, some important sectors have been exempted from this restriction.

In addition, pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, dairy shops, sports facilities and IT/call centers have been given exemption. These establishments will be able to remain open till 10 pm, while no time restriction will be applicable on takeaway and home delivery services.

According to the notification, restaurants, food outlets and grocery stores will also remain open till 10 pm.

The notification states that wedding halls, marquees and other event venues will also be able to continue their activities till 10 pm, and this ban will also apply to private functions.

According to the administration, these measures are being taken under the energy conservation and thrift policy, while keeping in mind the convenience of citizens, relaxations have also been maintained in some sectors.
