ISLAMABAD: As the heat increases, the duration of electricity load shedding has also increased and the spokesperson of the Power Division has also issued a statement regarding load shedding.

According to the spokesperson of the Power Division, load management was carried out for two to two and a half hours last night due to the increase in demand during peak hours. Hydropower is still generating about 6000 MW less than its capacity, the main reason being the low demand for water from the provinces.

According to the spokesperson of the Power Division, last night due to the demand from the provinces, 4950 MW of electricity was generated from the water discharge from dams during peak hours. The total capacity of hydropower is 11500 MW, but hydropower is still generating about 6000 MW less than its capacity, the main reason being the low demand for water from the provinces.

According to the spokesperson, the transmission of 400 MW from the south of the country to the center continued due to stability in the grid.

Power distribution companies implemented load management for two to two and a half hours last night due to the increase in demand during peak hours. Economic load management will continue on the country’s high-loss feeders as per the policy. Economic load management has nothing to do with peak time load management.

According to the spokesperson, peak time load management will also end with the availability of LNG. Due to the unavailability of LNG, 5500 MW power plants are not generating electricity. There is a need to adopt principles of saving electricity use during night hours so that the increasing demand can be met in a better way. Due to global conditions and low demand for water, shortfalls are faced during night hours.
