ISLAMABAD: Residents in the city face greater challenges because of unceasing Sui gas supply problems, which the government fails to resolve even during predetermined times.
People now depend on LPG because gas is unavailable, which has resulted in an extreme increase in its market prices. Sources report that LPG is currently sold at prices ranging between Rs430 and Rs460 per kilogram, which makes it too expensive for most consumers to buy.
Residents complain that on one hand they regularly pay their Sui gas bills and on the other they are compelled to purchase expensive LPG, severely impacting their household budgets.
The situation has especially affected the lower middle class, who report that their issues remain unsolved. Gas crisis deepens for industries, households. Gas shortage across Pakistan has deepened, severely affecting industries, while low pressure has left domestic consumers struggling.
The crisis has worsened nationwide due to a shortage of RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas). The existing gas reserves face rapid depletion, which results in a minimal gas supply to the system. Media reports state that the gas shortfall has reached 600 million cubic feet, which causes substantial reductions in gas supply to both the power and fertiliser sectors.
Domestic consumers are also receiving reduced gas, and the lack of pressure in homes has caused serious inconvenience for citizens.
The supply has dropped sharply compared to demand, with daily gas availability declining from 1,200 million cubic feet to just 700 million cubic feet.
Sui Gas authorities have not provided any information about the official demand and supply figures, but they continue to remain silent. They claim that gas is available in sufficient quantity and insist that supply is being ensured during all three main meal times.
