ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction in electricity prices in monthly and quarterly adjustments.
Nepra has approved a reduction in electricity prices by Rs 1.89 per unit in the quarterly adjustment.
The decision to reduce electricity prices in the quarterly adjustment has been sent to the federal government.
According to the decision, this reduction was approved in the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025. The reduction in electricity prices will apply to all DISCOs consumers, including K-Electric.
According to Nepra, the reduction in electricity prices will apply for the 3 months of August to October 2025, and electricity consumers will get a relief of Rs 55 billion 874 million from this reduction.
The reduction in electricity prices will not apply to Lifeline and prepaid consumers.
Earlier, the application for the fourth quarter adjustment of last year, 2024-25, was submitted to NEPRA by the electricity distribution companies.
NEPRA heard this application on August 4, 2025. According to the hearing, this quarterly adjustment is expected to be returned at the rate of negative Rs 1.89 per unit in the bills of August, September, and October.
The main reason for the negative quarterly adjustment is the amendment agreement with the power generation companies and the additional electricity demand, which was possible due to the reduction in tariffs and the transfer of captive power plants.
