New crude oil, gas reserves discovered in Pakistan

KARACHI: New reserves of crude oil and gas have been discovered in the country.

OGDC has announced the discovery of oil and gas from the Nishpa block in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The spokesperson for Oil and Gas Development said that 4,100 barrels of oil will be produced from the Bragzai X-1 well per day, and 10.5 million cubic feet of gas will be produced from the well per day.

According to the OGDCL spokesperson, the Bragzai X-1 well was drilled to a depth of 5,170 meters, and a 187-meter zone of hydrocarbons was successfully identified in the data formation.

In the Nishpa block, OGDC, as the operator, holds 65 percent, PPL 30 percent and GHPL 5 percent.

The new discovery will further increase the energy reserves of the country and OGDC.

The OGDC spokesperson said that the development of local resources will improve the demand and supply of energy in the country.
