Pakistan ends free electricity perks for power officials

ISLAMABAD: For the first time in the country’s history, the free units given to power sector officials have been abolished.

Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Leghari welcomed the Lahore High Court’s decision and said that the abolition of free units was the oldest demand of the people, which has now been fulfilled.

He added that Allah Almighty has bestowed the honor of this important step on the current government.

Awais Leghari said that God willing, he will definitely take every step that is for the betterment of the country and the nation.
