ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Energy, while giving great news to electricity consumers, said that after June this year, all information about electricity bills and systems will be available to consumers on a specific mobile app.

According to details, Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari visited the AMI Control Center of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (ISCO), where he was given a detailed briefing on the modern metering system project.

During the visit, the Federal Minister said that AMI meters have been installed for 25 percent of ISCO consumers, the main objective of which is to eliminate human intervention and overcome long-standing problems such as overbilling.

He gave the good news that after June this year, all information about electricity bills and systems will be available to consumers on a specific mobile app, while payment of bills is also being made easier through One Link.

Sardar Awais Leghari clarified that these modern meters have a modern alarm system installed to thwart attempts at electricity theft, which will give immediate notification in case of any kind of tampering.

Talking about net metering, he said that now consumers will not need to change their meters to get the net metering facility.

Announcing the nationwide project, the Federal Minister said that the government is going to start the process of installing more than one crore AMI meters across the country soon. This technology will not only make the billing process effective but will also help in reducing losses in the electricity distribution system.
