ISLAMABAD: The change in the weekly inflation for Pakistan is down for the first time in 5 weeks of increases due to the recent decrease in gas prices.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported a decrease at 0.7% this week due to a drop in gas prices, but it still has a very high annual inflation rate of 12.16%.
This week has seen a decrease in the pricing of 17 different items, while there are 17 items that have increased, and many stayed the same. Diesel dropped 134.58 per liter while gasoline dropped by 12.0 per liter.
The cost of a Gas Cylinder also dropped by 230.52. The price of Chicken fell by 45.0 per kilogram, and the cost of a 20kg bag of flour fell by 72.0.
Other items that fell were Lentils, Garlic, Onions, Sugar, Ghee, Firewood, and Bananas. However, several staple good saw their prices go up during the last week; Tomatoes rose by up to 5.0 a kilogram; Eggs rose by 5.15 dozen; Fresh Milk rose by 2.50 per kilogram; Mutton Rose by 5.0 per kilogram; and Bread rose by 4.00.
