KARACHI: The Pakistan-Iran Transit Corridor has been officially launched, and the first export consignment from Karachi has been sent to Tashkent.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan Customs, the first export consignment from Pakistan includes frozen meat, which was sent from Karachi via special refrigerated trucks to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The export goods reached the Iranian region of Ramdan from the Gabd area of Gwadar, from where they will reach the countries of Central Asia.
According to the spokesperson, a new land trade route has been established from Pakistan to the countries of Central Asia via Iran.
The Pakistan-Iran Transit Corridor has been established under the TIR system, which will provide an alternative and effective land route for exports to Iran and Central Asian countries.
The spokesperson said that this step has increased trade activities, reduced delivery time and paved new paths for the country’s industry and trade.
