TEHRAN: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has said that the success of the ongoing diplomatic process in Islamabad depends entirely on the seriousness and goodwill of the other side.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, detailed discussions were held on important issues during the past 24 hours, however, mutual trust is essential for final progress.

The statement said that sensitive issues such as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear program, war damages and the lifting of sanctions on Iran came under discussion during the talks.

Iranian officials stressed that for lasting peace in the region, it is necessary to completely end the ongoing tension against Iran and resolve all disputes seriously.

The Foreign Ministry further said that the other side should avoid unnecessary and illegal demands and recognize Iran’s legitimate rights. The statement also said that Iran has always been a supporter of resolving issues through negotiations, however, unilateral conditions will not be acceptable under any circumstances.

According to Iranian officials, positive progress is possible if the opposing side shows seriousness, otherwise the negotiation process may remain stalled. They also urged the international community to adopt a just stance and play its role in stabilizing the region.
