QUETTA: A notification regarding the fixing of official rates of petrol and diesel in Tehsil Qila Saifullah of Balochistan went viral on social media, which sparked concern and debate in public circles.

According to the notification that went viral on social media, the document issued in the name of Assistant Commissioner Qila Saifullah has fixed the price of petrol at Rs 241 per liter while the price of diesel at Rs 266 per liter.

The document also states that all pump owners have been instructed to sell fuel at these rates, otherwise legal action will be taken against them. In addition, monitoring measures have also been mentioned by the administration to ensure this.

However, the most important aspect in this whole situation is that this notification has not yet been confirmed or denied at any official level. No official statement has been issued by the district administration or the concerned authorities, which is creating doubts among the public. Some quarters believe that this notification may be old or has been spread through an unverified source, while some people are calling it part of the recent government policy.

Experts say that the spread of such unverified information on social media creates anxiety among the public and can also cause artificial fluctuations in the market. Fuel prices in particular are a sensitive issue, which directly affect not only transport but also the prices of daily necessities. If any change is made in prices, it is necessary to make a formal announcement at the government level.

Public quarters have demanded that the government issue an immediate clarification on this issue so that rumors are put to an end and accurate information can reach the public. Until official confirmation or denial is forthcoming, this notification is being considered unconfirmed and citizens are being advised to avoid blindly believing news spread on social media.
