SBP announces bank holiday on May 1st: Here’s why!

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that all banks and financial institutions across the country will remain closed on Tuesday, May 1 (Friday) on the occasion of Labor Day.

According to the State Bank, this decision has been taken following the government notification declaring May 1 as a public holiday.

All public and private banks, as well as development finance institutions and microfinance banks, will remain closed on the said date.

Public and private banks and other financial institutions will reopen on Monday, May 4, 2026 and resume normal operations.
