Sharjeel Memon announces free Solar Scheme expansion

KARACHI: Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Sindh government will provide free solar systems to another 275,000 families in low-income and remote areas so that they can get affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly electricity.

Talking to the media, Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon said that on the instructions of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, work is underway rapidly on this project worth Rs 18.2 billion, which aims to provide real relief in the energy sector to poor and deserving families.

He said that under the project, solar systems will be provided to 132,000 families in off-grid areas and 143,000 families in on-grid areas.

The senior minister said that every deserving family is being provided with a 180-watt solar panel, battery, fan and LED lights so that they can easily meet their basic electricity needs.

He said that more than 15,000 solar kits have been distributed so far, while the government has set a target of providing solar systems to all 275,000 deserving families by June 2027.

Sharjeel Memon said that this project is not limited to just providing electricity but is an important effort to make life easier for the low-income group by providing them with sustainable and affordable energy.
