Significant reduction in transport fares announced

ISLAMABAD: After the price of diesel was reduced by Rs 32 per liter, public transport fares have also been reduced.

According to officials, a 5 percent reduction in inter-city and inter-provincial bus fares has been implemented immediately.
According to the new fare list, fares from Lahore to various cities have been significantly reduced. The fare from Lahore to Karachi has been reduced from Rs 5,390 to Rs 5,120.

The fare from Lahore to Hyderabad has been reduced from Rs 5,020 to Rs 4,770, while the fare from Lahore to Moro has been reduced from Rs 4,550 to Rs 4,320.

Similarly, the fare from Lahore to Sukkur has been reduced from Rs 3,630 to Rs 3,450. The fare for Lahore to Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan and Khanpur has been reduced from Rs 2370 to Rs 2250.

Other routes include Lahore to Ahmedpur Sharqia from Rs 2160 to Rs 2050, Lahore to Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Multan from Rs 1970 to Rs 1870, Lahore to Muzaffargarh from Rs 2160 to Rs 2050, Lahore to Leh from Rs 2350 to Rs 2230.

Furthermore, the fare for Lahore to Dera Ismail Khan has been reduced from Rs 3285 to Rs 3120, Lahore to Bannu from Rs 2510 to Rs 2380, Lahore to Bakar from Rs 2720 to Rs 2580 and Lahore to Kot Addu from Rs 2340 to Rs 2220.

Authorities have issued instructions to transporters to immediately implement the new fare, warning that strict action will be taken against those charging excessive fares. Emphasis has been placed on ensuring strict implementation of the decision to reduce fares to provide relief to the public.
