Tajikistan’s Somon Air inaugural flight lands in Islamabad

Islamabad: Tajikistan’s Somon Air began its flight operations in Pakistan on Thursday when its first flight from its capital Dushanbe landed in Islamabad.

The flight was managed by Shaheen Airport Services, a subsidiary of Pakistan Air Force.

As per the details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda received 14 passengers from flight SMR-129 at Islamabad International Airport.

Fire tenders from the Civil Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Service gave the aircraft a traditional gun salute.

A cake cutting ceremony was also organized on this occasion. Shaheen Airport Services Executive Director Air Commodore (Rtd) Wasim Ahmed Khan, General Manager Shaheen Airport Services Islamabad Air Commander (Rtd) Shahid Nadeem and Soman Air Chief Executive Officer expressed their satisfaction on this milestone.

Airport Manager, Director SAPS and other dignitaries were also present in the ceremony.

Soman Air’s return flight SMR-130 left Islamabad for Dushanbe in the afternoon on the same day with 52 passengers on board.

The launch of Soman Air flights will facilitate direct travel between Islamabad and Dushanbe, saving travel time.

The flight will operate once a week on Thursdays utilizing the facility of Boeing 737 aircraft. After that, the frequency of flights will be increased.

This flight will allow passengers to easily experience the cultural richness and wonders of both countries at an affordable cost.
