QUETTA: The Balochistan Education Department has announced a five-day Eid al-Adha break to all government and private schools around the province.
According to an official notification, the schools will stay closed from Monday, May 25, all the way through Friday, May 29, so the students and staff can attend Eid celebrations.
After that, educational institutions in Balochistan are set to reopen on Monday, June 1, once the holiday period wraps up. This move also lines up with what provincial governments across Pakistan are doing.
Before Balochistan, the governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had already announced their own Eid holidays. Punjab, for example, declared a three-day public holiday from May 26 to May 28, which basically matches the schedule that was shared earlier by the federal government.
Meanwhile, the KP administration announced a four-day Eid break from May 26 to May 29. Sindh also approved a four-day holiday window during the same dates.
People in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will get more of a long weekend for Eid compared to Punjab, and compared to the federal government’s shorter three-day plan.
Officials further said the federal government fixed the holiday calendar so that citizens working away from their hometowns would get enough time to travel back, and then celebrate Eid al-Adha with their families.
